You Are Who You Hang With

"You are who you hang with". It's something that was said to me when I was 15 by my friend's very angry mom. She thought I was the source of her daughter's poor behavior. I wasn't, but those words stuck with me all these (many) years.
While her delivery was off, she was right. Who we spend our time with has a major bearing on our actions, attitudes, and feelings.
If things seem really sucky right now, it might be your circle.
We're quick to point this out when teenagers are hanging out with new friends that encourage them to have bad attitudes. Or when toddlers get extra sassy watching shows with poorly behaved children (we all know I'm talking about Caillou).
But what about when it's us grown adults? Spending time marinating with friends and family that are negative, will make you negative.
In the same vein, hiding out in friendships where those friends don't want what's best for you is a great place for your dreams and character to rot.
Be the kind of person that lifts others up, and look for people that do the same for you.
